The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has informed residents of Bida and its neighbouring communities in Niger State about an impending five-hour electricity disruption. This planned outage is necessary for the company to conduct its annual preventive maintenance at the Bida 132/33kV Transmission Substation.

According to an announcement made by TCN on its X handle, the maintenance operation is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, 2026, and will last from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. During this period, TCN's technical team will be carrying out essential preventive work on a 60MVA 132/33kV transformer along with its associated switchgear located at the substation.

The exercise is expected to impact the power supply across numerous areas that receive electricity from the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC). The communiqué specifically listed affected locations to include Bida Town, Army Barracks, Agaie, Doko, Baro, Zago, Emi Rani, Bussu, Laugba Goshigi, Lafiyagi Essa, Amgulu, Mansantali, Agaie Town, Low Cost, Masaga, and their surrounding villages.

TCN assured customers that electricity supply would be reinstated to the affected zones promptly upon the successful conclusion of the maintenance activities. The company extended its apologies to all electricity consumers in the impacted communities for the inconvenience that this scheduled outage would cause. This maintenance is an integral component of TCN’s broader preventive programme, designed to enhance the dependability and stability of Nigeria's electricity transmission infrastructure.
