The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has provided a detailed explanation regarding three principal reasons why candidates might discover their names are not included on the official matriculation list. In an informative video shared on its official X handle this past Friday, the examination body pointed out that the first reason is the most prevalent, whereas the third carries the highest importance.

According to JAMB, a primary factor contributing to this issue is the failure of candidates to formally accept their admission offer on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). The board stated, “Number one is the most common, while number three is the most important. You have not accepted your admission on JAMB CAPS or your admission status reads not admitted.” For candidates whose admission status displays “not admitted,” JAMB strongly recommended that they return to their respective institutions to ensure their admissions are properly processed. “If it reads not admitted, return to your institution to process your admission,” JAMB emphasized.

Another identified reason for candidates' names being absent from the matriculation list is that their institutions’ admission offices have not yet forwarded their verified matriculation details to JAMB. The board communicated this by saying, “Your institution admission office has not forwarded your verified matriculation details to JAMB.” Consequently, affected candidates are advised to promptly contact their institutions to facilitate the processing of their admissions on CAPS.

Furthermore, JAMB highlighted that neglecting to print both the original JAMB result slip and the admission letter constitutes another significant reason for names missing from the matriculation roster. The board explicitly stated, “You have not printed your JAMB original results slip and admission letter.” To rectify this, candidates were counselled to visit the nearest JAMB office or any accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre to obtain these essential documents. “So visit the nearest JAMB office or approved CBT centre and get it printed,” the board advised.

The board concluded by encouraging all candidates to monitor its various social media platforms for subsequent updates and necessary guidance.
