Ekiti State Extends Teachers' Recruitment Exam to Three Days

The Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board has made a significant adjustment to its ongoing recruitment exercise for teachers. Initially, the qualifying examination was scheduled to take place over two days, Friday, August 14, and Saturday, August 15, 2026. However, due to the large number of eligible applicants, the board has decided to extend the examination period by an additional day, commencing on Thursday, August 13, and concluding on Saturday, August 15, 2026. This development was announced by the Permanent Secretary of SUBEB, Mr. Michael Omolayo, in a statement released in Ado Ekiti on Monday. According to Omolayo, the extra day is intended to facilitate the efficient conduct of the examination for the substantial number of applicants who successfully completed the application process. This recruitment exercise is part of the state government's effort to enhance the quality of education in public primary schools, as recently approved by Governor Biodun Oyebanji. The Chairman of Ekiti SUBEB, Prof. Femi Akinwumi, emphasized that the recruitment is aimed at filling the gaps in public primary schools, ensuring that these institutions have adequate staffing. Akinwumi noted that the recruitment would be based on the consequential vacancies arising from the retirement of teachers over the past few years. The Permanent Secretary, Mr. Omolayo, explained that the adjustment to the examination schedule became necessary due to the high volume of applications received. Omolayo stated that applicants who successfully completed their applications would be notified of their respective examination dates and times via their registered email addresses. The Computer-Based Test is scheduled to take place at Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, and shortlisted candidates have been directed to appear at the examination venue on their assigned dates and times, with printed copies of their application forms for verification. Omolayo warned that only invited applicants would be allowed into the examination halls and that mobile phones and other electronic devices would not be permitted within the premises. Candidates have been advised to arrive at the venue only at their designated times and to comply with the examination schedule and instructions contained in their notification emails.
