Nigerian Air Force Graduates 111 Special Forces to Bolster National Security

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the successful graduation of 111 personnel from its Special Forces Course 13/2026. This strategic initiative aims to significantly strengthen the force's operational capabilities and enhance the overall security landscape of the nation. The graduation ceremony was conducted at the Regiment Training Centre Annex in Bauchi.
In a statement released on the NAF's official Facebook page on Sunday, the event was described as "another significant milestone in its commitment to building a highly skilled, combat-ready and mission-oriented force capable of responding effectively to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges." The program, characterized by its intensity, was meticulously designed to equip the personnel with specialized knowledge, critical tactical skills, and the resilience necessary for executing complex Special Forces operations in support of both air and joint military missions.
Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, the Chief of the Air Staff, was represented at the occasion by Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Dari, who serves as the Chief of Training at the Headquarters Nigerian Air Force. Addressing the newly qualified operators, Air Marshal Aneke extended his congratulations on their successful completion of the demanding training. He further charged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and discipline. "The true strength of any fighting force lies in the quality, determination and character of its personnel," Aneke remarked, urging them to remain focused on their missions and to serve the nation with unwavering honour.
Squadron Leader EL Akpan, the Commandant of the Regiment Training Centre Annex (RTCA) Bauchi, reaffirmed the centre’s steadfast commitment to continually produce competent and mission-ready Special Forces operators. The ceremony featured impressive tactical demonstrations, including obstacle crossing drills, practical commando self-defence techniques, and simulated air assault operations.
Among the distinguished attendees were Air Vice Marshal AG Kehinde, the Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command; Air Vice Marshal A Idris, the Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command (who was represented by Air Commodore Y Bashir, Commander 251 Base Services Group); and Air Commodore Olayera, the Director of Regiment. Senior military officers, representatives from sister services, and other security agencies were also present. The NAF underscored that this graduation highlights its "sustained investment in human capacity development and operational excellence," all geared towards reinforcing its capacity to effectively deliver air power in support of national security objectives.
