Female Student of Federal University Lokoja Found Dead Along Felele Road

A tragic incident has occurred in Lokoja, Kogi State, where the lifeless body of a female student was discovered. The deceased, identified as Sarah Ojodomo Idoko, was a final-year student of the Federal University, Lokoja. According to eyewitnesses, her body was found on Saturday night, May 30, 2026, near the Crusher area along the Felele-Lokoja Road. Initially, it was reported that she was a student of Kogi State Polytechnic, but the Kogi State Police Command later clarified that she was indeed a student of the Federal University, Lokoja. An identity card found on her revealed that she was admitted into the Higher National Diploma programme for the 2024/2025 academic session. The circumstances surrounding her death are still unclear, but a source in the area reported that a vehicle was seen stopping briefly near the location before speeding off, after which the body was discovered. The Association of Nigeria Female Students, Kogi State chapter, has condemned the killing, describing it as 'inhuman and unfortunate.' The state coordinator, Comrade Celina Ojoniko James, called on security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Kankarofi, confirmed the incident and stated that investigations have commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding her death and identify those responsible. The police commissioner added that preliminary findings indicated that the deceased was a student of the Federal University, Lokoja. The association has also urged relevant authorities to strengthen security around student communities and campuses to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
