A 36-year-old individual has been extradited from Turkey to the United Kingdom, where he now faces arrest on suspicion of murder. This development relates to a double shooting incident that occurred over six years ago at a large gathering in Manchester.

The deadly event, which transpired in the early hours of June 21, 2020, resulted in the tragic deaths of Cheriff Tall, aged 21, and Abayomi 'Junior' Ajose, a 36-year-old Nigerian father of three. The incident took place during a 'spontaneous' party attended by approximately 400 people in a car park situated near a block of flats in Moss Side, Manchester. This gathering occurred hours after a Black Lives Matter protest.

Detectives investigating the murders confirmed on Sunday that the suspect, who had been detained in Turkey, was brought to England the previous day. Upon his arrival at Stansted Airport, officers from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) took him into custody, where he currently remains.

Greater Manchester Police have reiterated that a significant reward of £50,000 is still available for anyone providing vital information that leads to the identification and conviction of those responsible for these killings. Investigators believe that many of the hundreds of partygoers present that night possess 'crucial' eyewitness accounts yet to be shared.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Higginson emphasized the police's unwavering dedication, stating: "This arrest demonstrates our unwavering commitment to securing justice for Junior and Cheriff and their loved ones. Over the last six years, myself and my officers have been carrying out multiple warrants, analysing evidence, examining devices that have been seized during the investigation, and pursuing every opportunity to identify those responsible. While this arrest marks a significant development in our investigation, our work is far from over. We continue to appeal for information that could help us establish the full circumstances of what happened that night and identify any outstanding suspects. We know that some people who were there that night have not yet spoken with us, and we want to take this opportunity to urge you to come forward and speak with us. The smallest piece of information could prove to be vital. Anyone who witnessed what happened, or who knows anything about those responsible, please do the right thing and come forward. The £50,000 reward remains in place, and all information we receive will be investigated thoroughly and treated with the respect that it deserves."

The police force has hailed this apprehension as a "significant step" forward in their ongoing investigation into the tragic double homicide.
