A profound sense of grief enveloped the Koblimahagu Zuo community within Ghana's Tamale Metropolis on Monday, October 5, 2026, following the tragic discovery of three children who had been reported missing. The young victims, aged three, five, and eight, were found deceased inside a parked vehicle. They had reportedly disappeared since Sunday, October 4, 2026, prompting a widespread search and public appeal for information regarding their whereabouts.

Confirming the heartbreaking incident, Seidu Fuseini, the Assembly Member for the affected area, stated that the vehicle's owner has been taken into police custody to aid ongoing investigations. According to Fuseini, the owner informed the police that all doors of the vehicle were locked when he left it. Mohammed Juuna, a relative of one of the deceased children, shared on social media that the children were found trapped inside a stationary vehicle within the community.

The bodies have since been transferred to the morgue at the Tamale Teaching Hospital for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Police Command has initiated a full investigation into the children's deaths. Police identified the deceased as three-year-old Dauda Abdul Aziz, five-year-old Saani Alsharaf, and seven-year-old Dauda Fadilan.

Police reports indicate that the children departed their homes around 8:00 a.m. on Sunday to attend Islamic classes but did not return. Community efforts to locate them proved unsuccessful until approximately 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 5, when their bodies were discovered in the boot of a black Hyundai Tucson, bearing registration number AS 1770-14. The vehicle was reportedly found stuck in mud on a road leading to the area.

A preliminary inspection of the vehicle revealed that the driver's door and the rear passenger door behind the driver's seat were open, while all other doors, including the boot, were locked. Police investigations have further established that the vehicle belongs to a member of the Ghana Immigration Service, who informed investigators that the car had been immobilized in the mud for roughly five days.

In an official statement released on October 5, the Northern Regional Police Command affirmed its commitment to investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths. The Inspector-General of Police has dispatched a specialized team, including homicide investigators, crime scene experts, and intelligence officers, to Tamale to support the regional command. The vehicle has been secured for forensic examination, and the upcoming autopsy is expected to provide crucial insights into the children's deaths. The Police Command has reassured the public that all necessary investigative steps are being undertaken to ascertain the exact cause of death and has urged the public to remain calm, promising further updates as the investigation progresses.
