Deadly Times Square Stabbing Ends with NYPD Shooting Suspect

Full Story
In a tragic incident that unfolded on Sunday afternoon in Times Square, New York Police Department (NYPD) officers fatally shot a woman. The event occurred near West 41st Street and Seventh Avenue in Manhattan, following reports that the woman had allegedly stabbed two individuals, one of whom later died.
Police accounts indicate that the suspect first attacked a 68-year-old man, stabbing him in the abdomen. She then proceeded to stab a 32-year-old woman in what authorities have described as an unprovoked assault. The younger woman succumbed to her injuries at a later time. Officers located the alleged assailant a block away from the initial scene, where she was found armed with two knives.
Law enforcement personnel spent several minutes instructing the woman to drop her weapons, but she reportedly refused. She was quoted telling officers, “I’m not dropping anything. I would rather kill both of you. I will kill you.” Despite the deployment of multiple tasers by police, authorities stated that these non-lethal devices proved ineffective. As the woman continued to advance towards the officers while holding the knives, two officers discharged their firearms.
The suspect was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The NYPD revealed that the woman had a documented history of mental health-related encounters with the department, although she had no prior arrests. Investigators do not believe the incident is terr*rism-related. An investigation into the police shooting is currently underway, while the surviving stabbing victim continues to receive treatment at the hospital, and police work to establish the motive behind the attacks.
