Nigerian Troops Neutralize 21 Boko Haram/ISWAP Fighters, Dismantle Adamawa Camp

A joint raid operation by the Nigerian Army and a specialized tactical team has resulted in the elimination of 21 Boko Haram terr*rists. The successful offensive also saw the destruction of a significant terr*rist camp located near the Kopre Mountain general area in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The operation, which unfolded in the early hours of August 26 and 27, 2026, was launched following credible intelligence gathered by the troops regarding the presence of Boko Haram elements in the vicinity. Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer for Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, confirmed these details in a statement released on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

According to Captain Goni, the joint force executed a stealthy insertion into the target zone around 1:30 a.m., subsequently initiating a decisive assault on the terr*rist stronghold nestled within Kopre Mountain. The engagement led to the d3ath of 21 Boko Haram fighters, while several others reportedly sustained gunshot wounds and managed to flee.

Beyond neutralizing the insurgents, the troops successfully dismantled the entire terr*rist camp, including their logistics infrastructure and other materials discovered at the site. A substantial cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered, including multiple AK-47 rifles, AK-47 magazines, and 7.62mm special ammunition.

The official statement highlighted the operation as “another significant operational success” for Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), underscoring a “well-coordinated joint offensive” against Boko Haram/ISWAP terr*rists. It further noted the intensification of ongoing search and rescue efforts.

The joint force comprised the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) Tactical Team and newly deployed troops from the 226 Battalion, specifically inducted into Sector 4, Adamawa State, under the direct orders of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM.

Navigating challenging and rugged terrain, the joint force penetrated the terr*rist enclave and executed a precision strike on the camp. This operation was crucial in advancing efforts to locate and rescue individuals abducted from the Mussa community in May 2026 and the Lassa school children seized in June 2026.

During the mission, troops engaged the terr*rists in two distinct encounters, successfully closing in on the camp. Following intense exchanges, over 21 terr*rists were neutralized. The joint force then secured the area, completely dismantling the camp and destroying associated logistics, thus severely degrading the terr*rists’ operational capacity in the region.

Exploitation of the site revealed and led to the in-situ destruction of several motorcycles, bicycles, and jerrycans filled with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), items believed to be vital for the terr*rists’ mobility and logistical support. The recovered items also included the aforementioned firearms and ammunition.

The Military High Command commended the gallantry, professionalism, resilience, and seamless coordination demonstrated by the ONSA Tactical Team and Operation HADIN KAI troops. Their decisive actions, the statement affirmed, reflect the unwavering determination of the Armed Forces and other security stakeholders to relentlessly pursue and degrade terr*rist elements wherever they seek refuge.

Operation HADIN KAI remains steadfast in its commitment to sustained, intelligence-driven operations aimed at locating and rescuing all abducted persons, dismantling terr*rist strongholds, degrading their fighting capabilities, and denying them freedom of action across the Theatre of Operations.
