A wave of fear has gripped the residents of Omoku in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State following a deadly attack by gunmen. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, resulted in the loss of four lives, including the Commander of the Organised Security Peace and Advisory Committee (OSPAC), Ozoemela Stephen Wokocha, popularly known as Boski. He was the head of the OSPAC Omoku Unit. In addition to the commander, three women were also killed in the attack, while two other individuals sustained severe injuries and are currently receiving medical attention at a hospital. The circumstances surrounding the attack are still unclear, and as of the time of reporting, security agencies had not released an official statement on the matter. A resident, who chose to remain anonymous, spoke to Nigerian Tribune about the fear that has engulfed the community, stating that many residents have opted to stay indoors due to concerns about potential further violence. The usually bustling streets of Omoku became deserted shortly after the incident, with many businesses closing earlier than usual as commercial activities and movement in the town significantly dwindled. The attack has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many to wonder about the safety of their lives and properties.
