Troops Free Abducted Wife of Late Defence Spokesman

The Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force, has successfully rescued Mrs Amina Abubakar, the wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar. The rescue operation was carried out by troops of Operation FASAN YAMMA, who had been conducting intensified search-and-rescue efforts. According to a statement by the Director Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, the troops made contact with the kidnappers at Tunga Village during sustained offensive operations against criminal elements in the area. The bandits shot Mrs Abubakar before abandoning her and fleeing due to the overwhelming pressure from advancing troops. The military immediately evacuated Mrs Abubakar to a military medical facility for treatment, where she is currently receiving medical attention and responding to treatment. The Armed Forces of Nigeria has assured that it will provide all necessary support to ensure her recovery and assist her family during this difficult period. The military has also vowed to continue operations aimed at apprehending those responsible for the abduction and other criminal activities. The late Major General Abubakar, a former Director of Defence Information, died in captivity after he and his wife were abducted by bandits in Katsina state. The military has stated that troops will continue ongoing operations to track down and neutralise the perpetrators, while intensifying efforts to rid affected communities of terrorists not just in Katsina but in the entire nation.
