Tragedy in Kebbi: Wife Fatally Shot as Husband's Gun Misfires

A tragic incident has occurred in Geza Village, Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State, where a 25-year-old woman, Sa’ima Sani, lost her life due to a gunshot wound. According to reports, the deceased was asked by her husband, Auwalu Hassan, to fetch a locally made Dane gun that had been stored in their residence. Unfortunately, as she was taking the gun to her husband at the rear of the house, it discharged, causing her to sustain severe injuries to her stomach and left hand. The incident, which happened on June 9, was immediately reported to the police, and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Bagudo swiftly mobilized officers to the scene. The victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Bagudo for emergency medical attention but sadly succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment. Following the incident, the police have launched a manhunt for the deceased's husband, who is reported to have fled the area. The Kebbi State Police have commenced an investigation into the matter to determine the full circumstances surrounding the tragedy and to establish whether any criminal negligence was involved. The authorities have also urged the public to exercise caution when handling firearms and to ensure that they are stored securely to prevent avoidable accidents. The body of the deceased was photographed and subjected to necessary procedures before being released to her family for burial.
