Niger State Community Raided: Gunmen Abduct Four Women, Including Pregnant Woman

In a brazen attack, bandits stormed Maikadauri village in Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger State, abducting four women, including one who is pregnant. The incident occurred during the night of Monday, June 8, 2026, and sources close to the matter, who wish to remain anonymous, revealed that one person lost their life in the process. Furthermore, a vigilante named Amos, who rushed to the scene to assist the residents, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. A resident of Kontagora, Habibu Mohammed, expressed his deep concern over the persistence of attacks on communities on the outskirts of the town, despite efforts by security forces to curb the menace. He urged the government to take immediate and decisive action to address the escalating insecurity in the area. This attack comes on the heels of a similar incident in Wawa, Borgu Local Government Area, where two young men, Sidiq Musa and Bashar Bisalla, were shot dead by gunmen while collecting firewood in a forest. Residents of the area disclosed that at least seven young men have fallen victim to such attacks in the same forest over the past 110 days, all of whom were engaged in firewood collection at the time of their death.
