The Federal High Court in Abuja has played a crucial video evidence as part of the prosecution's case against six individuals accused of plotting to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu. The video featured the interrogation of the fourth defendant, Zekeri Umoru, by the Special Investigative Panel that initially probed the alleged coup plot. According to Umoru, he was approached by Colonel Mohammed A. Ma'aji, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the plot, with a proposal to recruit insiders within the Presidential Villa. Umoru claimed he worked on the Presidential Villa clinic project with Julius Berger and was contacted by the third defendant, Inspector Ahmed Ibrahim, to carry out the recruitment. The plan allegedly involved targeting 18 to 19 individuals, including military personnel and staff of the Department of State Services, to aid in the operation. Umoru also revealed that the plotters discussed cutting off the electricity supply within the Presidential Villa, but he warned against such a move, stating it would instantly attract attention and lead to the arrest of all workers on duty. Furthermore, Umoru alleged that Ma'aji was determined to gain entry into the Presidential Villa, even if it meant using force. The prosecution presented this evidence as part of its case against the six defendants accused of conspiring to carry out a coup and topple President Tinubu's government.
