Aliko Dangote Foundation Secures 20-Year Management of Kano Skills Acquisition Centre

The Kano State Government has officially partnered with the Aliko Dangote Foundation, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that grants the foundation management control of the Aliko Dangote Skills Acquisition Centre for a period of two decades. This significant development, aimed at repositioning the centre and maximizing its potential for providing entrepreneurial and vocational training opportunities to youths across the state, was disclosed on Tuesday by the Governor’s Spokesman, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa.
The MoU was formally executed on Tuesday at the Office of the Secretary to the State Government. Representing the state government were Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, the Secretary to the State Government, and Barrister Abdulkareem Maude, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice. The Aliko Dangote Foundation was represented by its Programme Manager (North), Alhaji Sanusi Abdulkadir, and Programme Support Officer, Mustapha Umar.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Governor Yusuf, whose sentiments were conveyed by the SSG, emphasized the expected positive impact of the foundation's involvement on the centre and the state at large. He was quoted as stating, “The foundation possesses the technical and managerial expertise needed to transform the centre into one of the leading entrepreneurial and vocational training institutions in Nigeria and the West African sub-region.”
The governor further clarified that the decision to hand over the centre's management followed thorough deliberations by the State Executive Council, which subsequently approved the arrangement. This move, he explained, is intended to ensure the adoption of best practices in vocational training provision. Governor Yusuf expressed confidence that Alhaji Aliko Dangote, being a distinguished son of Kano State, would contribute his extensive expertise and resources towards enhancing the skills and entrepreneurial capacity of the state’s burgeoning youth population.
It is important to note that the Aliko Dangote Ultra-Modern Skills Acquisition Centre in Kano was established by the Kano State Government during the tenure of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and was named in honour of the prominent business mogul and industrialist, Aliko Dangote.
