Nigerian Economy in Shambles, Says Clergyman Paul Adefarasin

Paul Adefarasin, the Senior Pastor of the House on the Rock Church, has expressed his deep concern over the current state of Nigeria's economy. In a sermon delivered on May 17, Adefarasin declared that the country is facing a severe economic downturn, which has led to the devaluation of the national currency. He noted that the Naira has lost its value to the extent that counting it as one's primary measure of wealth is an indicator of poverty. Adefarasin said, 'Nigeria is de@d, lets not deceive ourselves. Let me tell you something. Once you are counting in Naira, you are poor.' He further explained that his father's salary in the 70s or 80s was around N18,000, which was a significant amount of money at the time. However, he lamented that the value of the Naira has drastically decreased over the years, with a billion Naira now equivalent to only $1 million. Adefarasin attributed the country's economic woes to the government's lack of vision for the future, stating that they have failed to prioritize critical thinking and research. He said, 'They have erased it out of our academic systems. We do not research data to know what our future looks like. So we are not doing the critical thinking so we have no combatant against our subconscious foolishness.' The clergyman's comments have sparked a heated debate about the state of Nigeria's economy and the need for urgent reforms.
