Sevilla head coach Luis García Plaza has praised Akor Adams after the striker’s decisive contribution in his team’s victory over Espanyol. The Rojiblancos defeated Espanyol 2-1 at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium on Saturday night to boost their chances of escaping the drop. Adams rose from the bench to score the winning goal for Sevilla in the game. “I really celebrated Akor’s goal. I’ve only been here six games, but I really empathize with the team. The bench came out to celebrate, and that’s very important. You can’t stop believing,” Plaza told the club’s official website. “The first half was poor, but then we were more clinical. The fans here are absolutely insane, the atmosphere they create is incredible. I think it’s difficult to lose at home, but with 40 points you’re not safe, we have to keep going. Let’s focus on Villarreal to continue this momentum, try to get some points, and if we win, even better.” Adams has so far registered nine goals, and three assists in 29 league appearances for the Rojiblancos this season.
