Residents are appealing to the government for intensified efforts to protect vulnerable communities from these repeated violent assaults.

It was stated that the said the attackers stormed the village under the cover of darkness, shooting sporadically and throwing the community into panic as terrified villagers fled for safety.
The latest killings have further heightened tension in Bassa LGA, an area that has witnessed repeated violent attacks over the years, resulting in loss of lives, destruction of property and displacement of residents.
A security update issued after the incident stated that a member of the CLAIR Plateau Team visited the community to assess the situation and document the aftermath of the attack.
The statement read, “Today 8th May 2026, around midnight, Fulani militias attacked Ngbrran-zongo village, Kwall district Bassa LGA killing 11 Irigwe persons.”
The report further stated that survivors currently receiving treatment at Jos University Teaching Hospital were facing urgent challenges, including lack of food, blood donations, funds for medical treatment and other essential support.
Security agencies in Plateau State had yet to issue an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report, while the motive behind the attack remained unclear.
The killings have once again raised concerns over the worsening security situation in parts of the state, where rural communities continue to suffer repeated attacks despite the presence of security operatives.
Residents and community leaders have repeatedly called on the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts toward protecting vulnerable communities and preventing further bloodshed across the state.
As grieving families mourn their loved ones, fears of possible reprisals and renewed violence continue to spread among residents of the affected community.
Earlier, SaharaReporters reported that terrorists on Wednesday allegedly invaded a community in Plateau State, disrupting the mass burial of seven members of a family killed in a brutal night attack in the Barkin Ladi area near Jos.
The incident reportedly threw the community into chaos as mourners gathered for the burial were forced to flee for safety amid sustained gunfire and the advance of armed men.
Eyewitness and social media personality Masara Kim Usman, who was present at the scene, shared real-time updates on his Facebook page, describing the atmosphere as chaotic and life-threatening.
He wrote: “This will be the permanent home of seven members of a family martyred last night by terrorists near Jos, Nigeria.”
However, the solemn gathering quickly descended into panic shortly after he shared a video allegedly showing suspected terrorists advancing toward the burial ground. The footage captured terrified residents scrambling for safety as gunshots echoed across the area.
Voices could be heard in the video urging mourners to take cover as the situation rapidly deteriorated, forcing many to abandon the graveside and flee in different directions.
Residents were seen running into nearby bushes as the sound of gunfire intensified, further underscoring the fragile security situation confronting many communities in the state.
