TikTok Follower Stunt Ends in Arrest for Ogun State Man

A young Nigerian man, identified as Qawiyu, has found himself in trouble with the law after he staged a fake bandits attack in Ogun State. The sole purpose of this stunt, according to Qawiyu, was to gain more followers on the popular social media platform, TikTok. In a video that has since gone viral, Qawiyu confessed to raising a false alarm of a bandits attack, saying, 'I raised a fake bandits attack just to gain TikTok followers. Please forgive me. My Ileya customers' clothes are still in my shop.' He repeated this plea for forgiveness, clearly remorseful for his actions. When questioned about how he managed to involve a Fulani herdsman in his video, Qawiyu explained that the herdsman often passed by his shop with his cattle. He asked the herdsman to participate in the video, which would serve as content for his TikTok account. Initially, the herdsman was hesitant but eventually agreed after Qawiyu's insistence. Qawiyu then instructed his apprentice to record the video. His rationale for this action was that he had seen others use similar tactics to gain followers on TikTok, and he wanted to follow suit. Qawiyu's actions, however, have landed him in police custody, where he is facing the consequences of his attempt to gain social media fame.
