Troops arrest notorious bandit, Ibrahim Adamu found with AK-47 magazine and incriminating photos in Kaduna
Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have arrested a suspected notorious bandit, Ibrahim Adamu, during a snap checkpoint operation in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State. The suspect was found with an AK-47 magazine, three mobile phones, Indian hemp, and incriminating photos. The arrest is part of the Nigerian Army's efforts to sustain ongoing offensives against criminal elements and reinforce internal security across the country.
Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have arrested a suspected notorious bandit during a snap checkpoint operation in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State and recovered an AK-47 magazine and and other items from the suspect. The suspect was apprehended at about 6:04 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026 by troops of 2 Battalion deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Dogon Dawa. According to the Nigerian Army, the troops mounted a snap roadblock at Damari area of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area when they intercepted the suspect identified as Ibrahim Adamu. During the search, troops recovered one AK-47 rifle magazine, three mobile phones, Indian hemp and other personal belongings from the suspect. Preliminary investigation conducted on the suspect’s mobile phones revealed several incriminating photographs allegedly showing him dressed in military-style uniform and posing with a PKT machine gun alongside other suspected bandits. “In a renewed push to sustain ongoing offensives against criminal elements and reinforce internal security across the country, troops of the Nigerian Army operating under Joint Task Force (JTF) North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA in the North West have recorded significant operational successes with the arrest of a suspected armed criminal and recovery of weapons and other incriminating items,” the statement read. "In the North West theatre, troops of 2 Battalion deployed at Forward Operating Base Dogon Dawa, while conducting a snap roadblock operation at Damari in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State on 8 May 2026, intercepted a suspected bandit identified as Ibrahim Adamu, 32 years old, riding on a motorcycle. "Troops recovered one AK-47 magazine, 3 mobile phones, Indian hemp and other items from the suspect. "Preliminary exploitation of the suspect’s mobile phone revealed incriminating photographs showing him dressed in military camouflage and armed with a PKT machine gun alongside other suspected bandits. “The suspect and recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation.”
