Scores of members of the Take-It-Back (TIB) Movement on Wednesday staged a protest at the Warri Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force in Delta State over the extrajudicial killing of a 28-year-old man, Mene Ogidi, by a police officer identified as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Nuhu Usman.

SaharaReporters gathered that the protesters, who converged at the command headquarters in Warri, demanded immediate justice for the deceased, insisting that the police must take full responsibility and ensure accountability in the killing that reportedly occurred in Effurun.

The demonstrators accused the police of persistent brutality and unlawful killings, describing Ogidi’s death as one too many in a country where citizens continue to die in the hands of security operatives without consequences.

The TIB Movement, known for its advocacy against bad governance and police brutality, called on the Inspector-General of Police to order a transparent investigation and ensure that justice is not only served but seen to be served.

Previously, SaharaReporters reported that an operative of the Nigeria Police Force attached to the Effurum Area Command in Delta State had shot and killed Ogidi in broad daylight, despite his hands being tied behind his back and his repeated pleas for mercy.

The disturbing incident, which has stirred widespread condemnation, was captured in a video shared by Inside_Delta on Instagram and seen by SaharaReporters.

The footage shows the helpless young man crying and begging the officers to spare his life, promising to cooperate fully and reveal whatever information they required.

In the video, the victim is heard pleading desperately: “Officer, I beg, I will tell you everything. It was my friend that deceived me.”

Despite his pleas, one of the officers shot him in the leg at close range.

The young man, writhing in pain, continued to beg for his life, insisting on his innocence and offering to lead the officers to any location or person who could clarify the situation.

“I will carry you go the place. I don’t know anything concern it,” he cried repeatedly. “Officer, I beg… Officer, please… Officer, I don’t know.”

Eyewitnesses at the scene watched in horror as the officers ignored his cries.

Moments later, he was shot again at close range while still restrained and defenceless, killing him.
