Bandits on Sunday attacked a truck conveying female students in a remote village in the Southern Kaduna region of Kaduna State.
The attack occurred in Akwando village, Kachia Local Government Area, according to Mr. Reuben Buhari, a citizen who hailed from the area, SaharaReporters learnt.
During the attack, one female student, identified as Purity Babangida, was found dead while attempting to escape.
Buhari said the students, who are from Akwando village, were being transported to Kachia to resume at their respective schools on Monday morning.
Less than 10 minutes into the journey, armed bandits ambushed the vehicle and abducted the following persons:

Patience Joseph — JS2 — GSS Kachia
Peace Irimiya — Student, St. John’s School, Kachia. Others are; Bishara Irimiya — Student, St. John’s School, Kachia, Irimiya Galadima — Driver. Fatu Danladi — Adult
Laraba Caleb — Adult."
It was further gathered that 15 students escaped by jumping from the truck and trekking through the bush for several hours before reaching nearby villages.
The Kaduna State government and the State Police Command have yet to officially react to the incident.
